Hi Everyone!
Today in the tutorial we were learning how to create a website using the Amaya web editor. Previously I have used other similar programs such as Dreamweaver, etc., however I found that it was a bit more difficult to find the functions and features that I was looking for in Amaya.
Firstly we had to create an index page for our own website which includes links to the first and second HTML pages that we created last week as well as our blogs. Then we had to create a website for "Maria's Fruit and Veg", creating multiple pages and linking them together and organising the information provided in the webpages. I thought that this would be an interesting task as we could use a bit of creativity in the design, style, etc.
One issue that I had during this task was that when I tried to add a background colour to a page it would only change the colour where the cursor was and if I highlighted the text it would only change the background around the text and not the whole background. Therefore, I decided that the solution would be to change the HTML code myself which would hopefully add a background colour to the page. In order to do this I had to search for the HTML colour codes so that I could copy the code and add it to the HTML code. I found a really good website through which you can use a colour picker or colour chart in order to find the colour code you are looking for. This website is HTML Color Codes, the link is as follows:
http://html-color-codes.info/
I found this website to be very useful and used it to add colour codes to my HTML code in Amaya.
In the example above I wanted to make the background green, therefore I used the HTML Color Codes website to choose the green I wanted to use and selected it to retrieve the code "#24A21D". This worked and I was able to change the background colour!!
