Google Maps

Hey Everyone!

The last few days I have been looking at Google maps and trying to create a customized Google map of a location from a recent holiday that I have been own. Last year I went on a holiday to Europe and visited many amazing places, however, one of my favourite places that I visited was Cardiff in Wales. Therefore, I decided to create a Google map with some of the places that I visited in Cardiff. These places included:
  • National Museum Cardiff
  • The Doctor Who Experience
  • Roald Dahl Pass
  • Cardiff Castle
I added the markers to all these places, however when I embedded it in my blog the markers were not visible. I do not know what the problem is but as soon as I can figure it out I will fix it on my blog. I included some explanations for each of the locations as well as some pictures that I took as well.

One of my favourite places I visited in Cardiff was the Doctor Who Experience where I could explore the different costumes and sets, etc. from the production of Doctor Who.

Another place that I visited was the Roald Dahl Pass which is one of the locations that Doctor Who and Torchwood was filmed. It was amazing to see this in person! When I was there, there was a summer festival on.

I also visited Cardiff Castle which was amazing as I love castles! Inside the castle itself there was wonderful detail in the decorations and each of the rooms.

Finally, another interesting place I visited was the National Museum Cardiff. I enjoyed wandering around and looking at the paintings, sculptures, ceramics, etc. in the museum.

I did have a few issues with adding the images to my map in terms of getting the URLs to work, however, I was able to eventually find a link that worked. Unfortunately, because the markers are not working in the embedded map the images cannot be viewed, however, I hope to keep investigating to see if there is a way to get the markers to appear on the embedded map in my blog.

I will update my blog if I am able to get the markers to work.

Update: Thanks to the YouTube video that Nouf included on her blog I was able to work out how to get the markers on my Google Map to appear!! Thanks Nouf!

  2. Hi Lisette!
I love your Google Map post about your trip to Cardiff! It looks like you had an awesome time!! (I am soooooo jealous!!) I too enjoyed creating my own Google Map- I had no idea this tool actually existed! I did find it a bit difficult at first working with layers but I eventually worked it out.

Keep up the great work with your blog! It looks fantastic :)
