Diigo

Hi Everyone,

So far in our Google doc my group ‘Bloggers Annonymous’ has investigated the social bookmarking tool Diigo.

Diigo claims to assist in streamlining the flow of personal information through storing bookmarks, etc. online via the cloud (Diigo 2013). Diigo allows users to more easily store, organise, annotate, research etc. through creating their own library which can be grouped into subjects, etc. to increase organisation and increase productivity. (Diigo 2013) Users are also able to annotate and share their bookmarks, notes, etc. with others if they find an interesting article or website. I have found Diigo to be quite useful so far in terms of organisation and ease of use.

Diigo can be accessed anywhere from any device and so far I have not had any problems using it. Some of the websites, etc. that I have used it for so far include websites, articles, journal articles, etc. that I have found for different assignments. It is really helpful to have all of these sites in the one location and makes my research much easier.

I have only had some limited experience with EndNote, however, from my experience so far I have determined that one of the differences with Diigo is that EndNote is more personal and provides references for the sites or documents whereas Diigo has more of a focus on the social and sharing side of things. There is a similar difference between Diigo and with the bookmarking or favourites feature of most web browsers.

So here is a screenshot of my personal library in Diigo, I have bookmarked a few websites, articles, etc. that are useful for my course and I have also transferred over. I think that I will continue to look into this tool as it has other uses such as sticky notes and notes, for example, that I have not investigated.

Next time I will discuss another social bookmarking tool that my group is discussing. Be back soon!

Lisette

  1. It sounds good if you can add sticky notes also.
Otherwise it sounds like Feedly to me!
