Hey Everyone!!
Amazingly I have just created my first Twitter
account!!
I never thought that I would create a Twitter
account as I was never really interested and thought that I would never tweet
anything anyway. Also, I don’t normally feel at ease commenting on social
media, however, sometimes it is important to push yourself and do things that
you are not necessarily comfortable doing. I think that everyone creating
Twitter accounts in class where not everyone had made one before provided an
encouraging environment and more of a positive attitude towards setting up the
accounts.
I had a bit of difficulty creating my account
trying to get the security numbers correct, but I was finally able to create it. I
explored around twitter for a while, figuring out how to follow people, etc. I
managed to follow Kate, Nouf and Luisa’s Twitter feeds and added some of my
favourite bands and authors such as Muse, Terry Goodkind, etc. and I intend to follow
some others at a later stage. I believe that the more that I practice using
Twitter the more comfortable I will feel.
During the lecture we were able to comment
throughout the hour via the #isys1166 hash tag on Twitter. My aim for the
lecture was to at least comment once during the lecture. I was a bit nervous
and self-conscious about tweeting during the lecture, however, I pushed myself
and was able to contribute a comment to the #isys1166 hash tag. This made me
feel satisfied that I had accomplished something that I had never done before.
I hope to continue to improve my twitter skills as
the course progresses.
Lisette
Hey Lisette, I can really relate to all your comments... commenting on social media is certainly not a natural thing for me either, so I think we've both done really well!
ReplyDeleteGood on you for meeting your goal of tweeting during the lecture. I enjoyed reading everyone's tweets on the train on the way home :) Extremely entertaining - I think it really shows how Twitter can bring people together under one 'hashtag' during a conference/event/lecture. In the end, I decided to only tweet once with #isys1166 which was during the tutorial but maybe next time I'll be up there during the lecture!
(I noticed that someone retweeted me during the lecture, so maybe that counts a little? Haha)
Hi Kate, thanks for the comment, it is good to know that others are in the same boat. I agree that we have both done well and made good progress with social media!
DeleteI too enjoyed reading everyone else's tweets too! I agree that twitter can really bring people together and encourage them to take part during the lecture, etc. I felt like the interaction on Twitter made everyone in the lecture feel more like a community rather than individual students..
I am sure that next time you will be able to comment during the lecture. (Although a retweet probably counts as well! Hehe)
Hi Lisette !
ReplyDeleteCongratulations your twitter account !
As you said we are in the same boat, I'm happy for your progress.
Yes, you are right, we need to break our barrier from each new in technology and do things that we are not necessarily comfortable doing.
Unfortunately, as you know I can't create mu twitter account in tutorial because of some privacy problem, but I am sure I will be able to comment throughout the lecture via the #isys1166 hash tag on Twitter next week.
Don't stop Lisette, I look forward to your post
Hi Nouf, thanks for your comment! I am sure that you will be able to comment on the #isys1166 hash tag as well next week! I am sure that we will continue to improve on our social media / technology skills as we progress through the course! Keep up the good work!
DeleteHi Lisette
ReplyDeleteWe are tweeters now! I am following some bands too.
How funny was it that we were encouraged to Tweet during the lecture, I got one out too. But what I really wanted to tweet was '#ISYS1166 nice haircut John!'
